Guus Bertens

Workshop: Hands-on Quantum Computing

Biography

Guus Bertens spent his life with one leg in research and the other in IT. He received his master’s degree in applied physics from the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), and wrote his PhD thesis at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organisation (MPIDS) in Göttingen, Germany, where he conducted experiments in the field of fluid dynamics. During his master’s studies at TU/e he took his first steps in the world of HPC, as a researcher to support his master’s thesis, but also as a system administrator. The latter he also did briefly at ASML. Guus currently works as an HPC system administrator at TU/e, and serves as a linking pin between the applied quantum computing research done at the CQT Quantum lab, and the TU/e Supercomputing Center (SCC).
